West2Wild Coast lists South Africa accommodation round the Cape Coast - from the West Coast to the Wild Coast including major destinations such as Cape Town, StellenboschHermanusKnysnaAddo Elephant ParkJeffreys Bay and Port Elizabeth as well as many other places of beauty and interest on the South African coast and in the immediate hinterland.

This area, stretching from the West Coast to the Wild Coast (hence the name of this website), ecompasses many, although not all, of South Africa's most scenic locations, beautiful mountain and sea views, great beaches and most exciting activities.  (For those interested in accommodation and activities in the interior of the old Cape Province please visit our companion site www.thegreatkaroo.com.)

We have tried as far as possible to present a choice of accommodation ranging from the most luxurious to budget in order to suit a variety of visitors but it has to be accepted that in some places, due to their very popularity, the selection of accommodation tends to the more up-market and is priced accordingly.

Tourism on the South African Coastal Region

South Africa has been a destination for tourists since the earliest days of tourism.  Both in the past and up to the present day the most visited portion has been the coastline of the old Cape Province (the Cape having been divided into three provinces under the present regime) and the largest share of South African tourist accommodation is to be found in this region.

South African accommodation for tourists in the Cape coastal region is found in high concentrations in the large cities such as Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.  We have therefore divided tourist accommodation in these regions into groups of suburbs so as to provide a sufficient choice of accommodation in an area without saturating the visitor with a plethora of suburbs to check though.  In this respect, when you have clicked on a region, you will find a Map tab (as well as an Accommodation and an Info tab).  Clicking on the Map tab will display a Google map showing the distribution of tourist accommodations in that region.

In some of the country districts inland, tourist accommodation is spread very thinly.  For the same reason we have grouped small towns and isolated accommodation establishments into larger regions.  Once again, the Map tab of a region will assist in showing whether accommodation exists in a particular place.
