Mossel Bay Backpackers is a friendly hostel with all the necessary facilities available. Television, self-catering kitchen, bunker beds, each with a locker, private double rooms, sleeping 2, 4, 6 or 9 persons. Only 300m to surf spots. Located at The Point which has the most consistent waves along the South African coastline.

Activities include shark cage diving, deep sea fishing trips, Garden Route big five, horse riding and diving arranged. Nice and safe environment for day & night walks along the beach, or mountain trail. Great for whale watching between July and November. Superb Pub-crawling watering holes (no driving needed!) - at least 5 within 500m! Khoi-San (Bushman) cave - 300m from the backpackers.

Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex displaying the Old Post Office Tree, Caravelle (old ship), and Shell Museum, is a must for any visitor to South Africa. Mossel Bay has the oldest European History along the Southern African Sub-continent.

From Oudtshoorn:

Follow R328 past Hartenbos; past 2 sets of traffic lights - another 2 km and road goes up a steep hill - just before bridge cross-over turn left onto that road (Marsh Street = Main street) Go straight down through centre of town (±1.8km) towards The Point. At the end, at the bend and just before Milkwood Primary School on left is Huijs te Marquette - look for the long building with 6 arches in front (if you can see it between all the plants!). Mossel Bay Backpackers just around the corner (follow signs).

From George:

First Mossel Bay turn-off (off N2), turn left. At traffic lights turn right (follow directional signs to Mossel Bay). Past another set of traffic lights - another 2 km and road goes up a steep hill - just before bridge cross-over turn left onto that road (Marsh Street = Main street) Go straight down through centre of town (±1.8km) towards The Point. From Cape Town:

N2 turns off to the left, if you go straight directional sign indicates Mossel Bay straight ahead - you carry on straight. Carry on past third set of traffic lights - another 500m and the signs shows The Point and CBD area to the left. At the traffic light turn right and down the main street (Marsh Street). Go straight down through centre of town (±1.8km) towards The Point. At the end, at the bend and just before Milkwood Primary School on left is Huijs te Marquette - look for the long building with 6 arches in front (if you can see it between all the plants!). Mossel Bay Backpackers just around the corner (follow signs).
